About Me

I am a licensed professional clinical counselor in Ohio with 8 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in an outpatient setting. I have experience working with a wide range of individuals and severity of clinical issues. I have the most experience working with depression, anxiety, anger management, family conflict, relationship conflicts, trauma/abuse, mild autism, and addictions.

My specialty is working with teens and adults experiencing a wide range of challenges including self-confidence, depression, suicidal thoughts and/or cutting, anxiety, career challenges, drugs and alcohol, pregnancy and/or parenting, anger, intimate partner violence, and various types of trauma such as sexual, emotional, and physical abuse.

My dedication to the field of mental health stems from my personal experience with it. I have personally overcome some mental health challenges over the course of my lifetime giving me firsthand experience in how difficult it can be to live with, get help with, and recover from mental health problems. I am here to tell you that no matter what you have been through, or are going through, there is hope, things can get better.

My counseling style is down to earth, compassionate, and caring combined with warmth and interaction. I believe in honesty and having an open mind. I believe that treating everyone with dignity and respect is a must, and will offer a nonjudgmental and understanding environment where people will feel safe to share their thoughts and feelings.

My approach to therapy combines active listening, strength-based, solution-focused, and cognitive behavioral theory. I will personalize our work together to meet your specific needs. I primarily use evidence based techniques including cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused counseling. I am here to help you establish goals and objectives to help you with current problems. Helping you to live your best life is part of my mission. I believe in meeting you where you are and helping you to get where you want to be. I look forward to helping you in any way I can!

Julie has helped keep identify some underlying causes to the problems in my life and given me thoughtful strategies on staying positive. She's also identified areas where I am not communicating effectively, when I could be reaching out to the people around me.

Julie is helpful, thoughtful and I strongly recommend her.

Julie has been really kind and understanding with me since the beginning, I wouldn't think any person would be such supportive to my actions and ideas specially some of them were most of a stigma in the universal social understanding.
