About me

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Illinois and have 10 years of experience working directly with clients to improve their lives. I graduated from the University of Chicago in 2011 and have practiced in the areas of mental health, substance abuse, trauma recovery, illness management, and homelessness. I have extensive experience working with Veterans and with clients from the community. Although I hold the therapeutic relationship as the primary vehicle for exploration and change, my toolbox of evidence-based interventions includes Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Prolonged Exposure.

I would describe my style as warm and empathic, and I believe humor and levity can be important parts of therapeutic processing when appropriate. You are the most qualified expert on yourself. I am here to encourage, support, collaborate, and explore solutions with you. I view therapy as a place where a safe relationship can facilitate your own exploration of your questions, goals, and ultimate sense of self and what you truly want out of life. I look forward to meeting you and hope to be a helpful part of your journey.

Very insightful and all around pleasant to discuss my lingering traumas with. I have made significant progress so far with understanding myself and why exactly my thought processes work the way they do. Julie helps me find ways to keep myself accountable and grounded. So, I'm very appreciative of our sessions.
