About Me

I am a dedicated LMHC with 6+ years of experience working with LGBTQ+, People of Color (POC), and HIV+ populations; 4+ years working with mental health (inpatient setting); 3+ years working with chemical dependency/dual diagnosis clients (in both inpatient and outpatient settings); 3+ years working with mental health (outpatient setting).

I am a very outgoing person as well as a compassionate and empathetic person-centered caregiver. My counseling style is direct and interactive and uses humor therapeutically. My therapeutic approach combines solution focused, cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavioral counseling. Additionally, I am trained in domestic violence, LGBTQ+ issues, BIPOC issues, teaching assertive communication skills, veterans issues (I am a veteran of the US Army), and chronic pain and disabilities.

It always takes an open mind and a courageous heart to step outside of your comfort zone and look to someone else for help. I look forward to helping you on your journey to discovery, recovery and healing. I have personally struggled with depression and anxiety for the majority of my life, thus giving me a much more in-depth understanding of these hefty diagnoses. I hope to talk with you soon. Take good care in the meantime.

After one session over the phone, I've been able to implement new techniques quickly and noticed a considerable improvement a short period of time

Julie is so thoughtful and honest. It's nice connecting with her on a personal level to build the trust that then makes it easier to talk about some of the problems I'm facing and need her help on!
