About Me
Welcome! You have made an important first step in seeking support and I first want to thank you for making the decision as it takes a lot of effort to acknowledge you want to be in a better place mentally, emotionally, and physically. Believe that you are in the right place to receive the support you need. I would like to tell you a little about myself, what I do, and how I can help you at this time.
I graduated with a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University (2014) and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of Florida. Throughout my work history I have advocated and supported for those who need it the most. I have had the opportunity to work with families and individuals of diverse backgrounds in helping them through concerns such as grief, parent-child conflict, intergenerational conflict, addiction, trauma, depression, anxiety and so on. This has helped me refine my skills in counseling others especially in a cultural context. I have also spent 2 years abroad as a volunteer in Peace Corps. Here I worked closely with young adults and families in educating them on different issues such as self-esteem, domestic violence, and reducing discrimination and biases associated with minority groups and individuals of different identities. My therapeutic and advocacy experience has reinforced in me the value of helping others gain insight and implement strategies to move towards positive change.
My job as a therapist is to care for emotional, behavioral and physical issues being impacted by your mental health. Together, we will explore factors impacting your life and identify strategies that you can use immediately to help get you to the changes you desire. I have experience working with different therapeutic styles. Together we can better determine which strategy is best for you and create goals accordingly. Throughout the process I will be supporting, reassuring and even challenging you to help manage obstacles and attain positive change.
I very much encourage clients to take ahold of their therapeutic treatment. This is not about me telling you what to do, but about us having a relationship where you feel heard, understood and not judged in discussing your concerns and exploring ways to improve. You are your own expert after all. If this is the type of therapeutic relationship you’re seeking then please know I am here for you.

Julissa is an empathetic counselor. I couldn’t recommend her more!
She is wonderful, excellent and she is helping me a lot
Julissa is caring and empathetic. She is a great counselor!
Thank you so everything. I feel seen in this short time and honestly I’m excited for the work but I know it’s going to be an uphill battle.
Julissa is a wonderful therapist. She is insightful and direct but gentle. It is easy to open up to her. Julissa asks questions that are thought provoking and help guide you to the roots of what's going on in your mind.
Julissa is a wonderful therapist. She is easy to open up to and is very helpful.
Julissa really listens to you and asks a lot of very good, targeted, thought-provoking questions, that I have found extremely useful. Her communications with me between sessions have been almost as useful and insightful as what we do DURING the sessions. I really appreciate that she is completely present with me and takes my feedback into account. I feel very fortunate that she was assigned to me as my counselor. I didn't really shop around on this site, I just took the first one, and I feel like I hit the lottery. I spent many years in therapy when I was in my 20s, and felt like I wasted a lot of time back then with therapists and counselors that were just more interested in keeping me in therapy than creating real results. I DON'T feel like this at all with Julissa. I HIGHLY recommend her!!!
She’s detailed and understands what I am saying and feeling. She provides great insight.
Julissa is amazing. She makes me feel like she’s really listening and caring about my issues I’m trying to work through all the while working with my schedule and offering me exercises to help. I was a little apprehensive about seeking counseling in any form, but I’m really glad that I did.
Julissa is my lifeline to sobriety. I always know that she is there to assist me. She’s honest and to the point. She helps me to see other aspects of my behavior that I either could not see or refuse to see. Thank you, Julissa!
Julissa has been extremely responsive and proactive in reaching out to me even on days when I don't initiate conversation. I think that's important because quite often I forget to engage in the counseling process or put it on the back burner. She helps remind me it should be a priority and I've seen an improvement in my own awareness of how I respond to people and listen. Definitely recommend her to anyone.
