Congratulation on taking a most challenging first step- reaching out and being willing to create change. I believe the primary goal of therapy is increased self-awareness of what you are thinking and feeling and then taking steps to act on your most positive thoughts and positive emotions. You may have thoughts and emotions that you are unconscious of, that you don't understand or that you believe that you can't change. Those perceptions, especially if they are fed by negative thoughts and negative emotions, can lead you to live a life that may be disempowering- causing painful experiences in your romantic, social, work and/or family relationships and ultimately preventing you from sharing your authentic self and sharing who you are meant to be in the world. I believe that you can change the way you think about yourself and the way you feel about yourself which then leads to taking action based on those more empowered thoughts and emotions.
My approach to therapy is to teach you how to change the negative thoughts and negative emotions you have and the disempowering ways that you behave as a result. . Curious about yourself? If so, I can help you explore, confront and shift the thoughts and emotions that stand in the way of having a life you love. For example, I believe a powerful block that stands in the way of harnessing the power in one's life is consolidated in energy that is fear-based. Emotions and thoughts that are fear-based- regret, jealousy, anger, sadness, resentment, shame, etc. are at the core of choices that lead one down a painful path. By exploring the ways that fear-based thoughts and fear-based emotions show up and challenging/changing fear, will lead you towards a life that is more empowered and loving.
I focus on change in your life now and moving forward. I do not focus much on your past since you can not change that. Though your past is important for the lessons learned, your present has the power to shape your life now.
