About me

I'm a GenX, old punk rock chick. No BS, no peering at you over my spectacles and making inscrutable comments like "hmmm" and "interesting!" in lieu of actual therapy and potentially helpful suggestions. I give a little pragmatic homework to the people I serve, because I believe that while therapy is important, it's what you do outside the room that really produces lasting change. I've been in practice a long time, am trauma-informed, and nothing shocks me.

I am an Iowa licensed clinical psychologist and have conducted psychotherapy for 29 years. I work with adults and older adults, and have worked in many different settings - inpatient, outpatient, dual diagnosis, halfway house, substance abuse treatment at all levels of care, maximum-security prisons, multidisciplinary pain clinic, nursing homes/ALFs/memory care, and hospice. I mainly work from an a client-centered approach, and my clients describe me as warm, down-to-earth, caring, and practical. In my private work, not found on this platform, I work mainly from an ancestral/animist perspective and welcome those who hail from pagan and non-mainstream belief systems.

I believe that you are the expert in the room when it comes to discussing your lived experience, and that with ongoing support, structure, strategy-testing and encouragement, that healing and resolution are possible.
