About me

My name is Kailee Smith and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California. I have been practicing for the past 4 years. I have worked with individuals, couples, children, and families. I have also facilitated domestic violence, anger management, and parenting groups. I have had the privilege of working with individuals that are dealing with depression, anxiety, PTSD, relational issues, parenting issues, co-parenting, behavioral issues, career challenges, past abuse, and the challenges that come along with adjusting to something new.

I earned my Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Development, and I have a Masters degree with a double emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy and Professional Clinical Counseling.

My counseling style is warm, empathic, respectful, client-centered, safe, and free of judgment. I believe that creating a safe environment for my clients and developing a caring therapeutic relationship is critical to a successful therapeutic experience. It is my belief that a therapeutic relationship should be a collaborative one where you and I work together to discover strategies and solutions that best help you and that will meet your specific needs.

I practice from a variety of therapeutic orientations. First and foremost, I practice from a Client Centered (Rogerian) modality. This is the core of who I am as a therapist. This means that there is respect, encouragement, warmth, active/reflective listening, validation, normalization, meeting the client where they are at, and no judgment. I also utilize Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems, and Mindfulness. I am a firm believer that every individual is unique and special, and practicing from only one therapeutic orientation will not work for everyone. As a therapist, I strive to tailor each session to each client’s individual and specific needs.

It takes a lot of strength and courage to reach out and seek assistance during challenging times. I appreciate and respect the courage it takes to make the decision to take this first step. It is my hope you also recognize the strength you have within. I look forward to working with you!

Kailee wasn’t my first match, but I am with her now and it is wonderful! I knew this was the right counselor for me immediately. BetterHelp is right when they say they will match you with your best!! I feel very comfortable with Kailee and she really shows her interest in more of my life than just my “problems”. This has been the best decision by far!

Kailee was truly a godsend at a very unique and challenging time in my life. She gave me the perfect balance of empathy, care and action steps to take to make it through a major life changing transition. I highly recommend Kailee.
