About me

It seems appropriate to share a little about me, especially as you will be entrusting me with personal events in your life.

Having been the other side of the counselling relationship, I have experienced first-hand the benefits of having a counsellor who holds a trusted position in your life. Someone who, offers you empathy, respects your outlook on the world and holds a safe space whilst you uncover and resolve the issues within you that you want to address.

It was that experience that ignited my curiosity to understand how our thinking works. This led me onto my first step to train as an NLP practitioner, transitioning onto hypnotherapy and timeline therapy. I furthered my training to Master level in each of these three areas.

I wanted to be able to utilise my NLP skills within a therapy environment. This is what directed me towards training in counselling and I chose to spend a further four years training in that area. I have been able to hone my skills such that I can support my clients as they identify and explore the issues that are presenting for them. NLP provides me with a series of extra resources that I can offer and invite clients to utilise, helping them address their issues.

This is where I find myself in the current day and I genuinely enjoy being part of the process as my clients navigate their obstacles and move forward, whether that is with counselling alone, or using NLP techniques, hypnotherapy or time-line therapy.

Being a humanistic integrative counsellor means that I am led by you and we go at your pace in our therapy sessions. After all who knows you better than you know yourself. Having three different modalities (counselling theories) that that I utilise also means that our sessions are bespoke to you, by integrating the three modalities to best serve you. We can explore this further in our first session.

I've started counselling with Kanan about 2 months ago, just after I experienced a painful breakup from a relationship. From the beginning, Kanan was a huge source of comfort and consolation for me. She helped me process my emotions without ever being judgemental or impatient about them. She was great at noticing little details in my behaviour or the way that I express myself, which helped at getting to the bottom of my feelings. Thanks to her, I learned to not spiral into unhelpful thought patterns, but to gain concrete insights into what I've learned from my breakup and what I want my life to be like in the future (not just in regard to romantic relationships, but also friendships, work, and my relationship to myself).

After every session, I noticed big improvements in the way I was feeling and the way I handled situations that I normally wouldn't handle so well. Now, not even three months into therapy, I look back on all the progress I've made and I'm confident that things will keep on improving from here.

I'm so grateful for Kanan in her role in all this. I feel very lucky to have had her as a therapist and I'd recommend her to anyone without hesitation.

Kanan is brilliant, I felt a difference even after one session. She notices subtle things about myself that have increased my awareness of my emotions and helped me to reduce my anxiety. There’s no judgement and she is understanding. I’m really glad I started sessions :)
