My name is Karen Contreras. I am a licensed therapist with 25 years experience in the healing arts.
I am a psychotherapist licensed in California. I have succeeded in assisting people, with a variety of difficulties including depression, anxiety, trauma, low motivation, and parenting problems. I have also helped many people who have experienced physical trauma, emotional and sexual abuse and a variety of human issues.
My therapeutic approach is accepting and collaborative. I am committed to appreciating your journey, as your own. I am here to walk with you, hand in hand as a confidant and positive influence. My perspective connects cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, humanistic as well as narrative therapies in a way that will personalize your individual needs.
There is great news! You have the capacity to become aware of re-actions and limitations and choose empowerment! Reaching out for support is a courageous decision. I honor that decision. I look forward to accompanying you to the revelation of the dynamic, vibrant person you are and were meant to be.
We have limitless possibility for enlightenment in our psychological, social and spiritual growth. We can realize our goals, strengthen our relationships and be at peace with ourselves and our humanity. At times undesirable choices we make are the result of being unaware of the influences behind the choices. This may be the result of: learned behaviors, trauma, abuse, negative thinking patterns and other impacts which cause persistent unawareness and may be expressed in: anxiety, depression, impulsivity, substance use, isolative behavior, social withdrawal, self-sabotage, as well as diminished spirituality among other manifestations.
There are answers to your questions and doubts. I am qualified to help. Believe.
Remind yourself often that you are a miraculous, sacred, perfect expression of life.
I look forward to experiencing you!

Karen was always pleasant and polite. She listened and gave some insights into general situations. There was very little communication between sessions, only in the form of a few general worksheets, but most of the time she tried to give me a full 50 mins of her time, which on this site has been rare.
Karen has been great so far. She can pinpoint what I need to work on, what something might be, has given me worksheets that have been helpful, and taking the time to read my journal entries.
Karen is very patient and insightful in pointing out issues that I would not have noticed and ways to improve on them
Karen has been very helpful as I grieve the loss of my father, who I lost in October of 2019. I have only had a couple of sessions with her thus far, so I will be able to know better how things are going as a result of our sessions after more time.
