About me

I enjoy walking with clients on their journey to improved mental and emotional health. Most of us spend our lifetimes trying to understand and grasp the ideas that lead to more happiness and better well-being. It is still an honor, even after 30 years of practice, to be chosen to accompany people on that path. I most enjoy issues related to phases of life, work (such as burnout, job stress, or career changes), and maintaining recovery from addiction. But, being in the business for a while means I've worked with people on all sorts of goals.
I attended Arkansas Tech University in Russellville for an undergraduate degree and then the University of Central Arkansas in Conway for a Master's of Science Degree. I have licenses to practice as an LPC-S (Licensed Professional Counselor with Supervision specialty), LPE-I (Licensed Psychological Examiner with Independent Practice and a technology certificate), and LADAC (Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor).
I tend to use Rogerian (Person-Centered) theory as a base and then build on that with Cognitive Behavioral tools.
When the COVID pandemic occurred in 2020, I made the accidental discovery that technology counseling was really enjoyable. I would not have believed that until I had to try it. Now, I'm contracting with BetterHelp because of their technology platform.
People seem to describe my personality with words like calm, kind, understanding, patient, encouraging, and helpful. If that matches the characteristics you are looking for, then let's talk and find out what goals interest you!

I was hesitant for years to try counseling, for so many reasons. But after my first session with Karen I knew I’d found exactly what I needed. She’s helped me through so much already in the last two months that I honestly don’t know how I would’ve made it out of things without her support.
