Karen Jensen

About Me

Welcome to BetterHelp! I’m Karen Jensen, a licensed clinical social worker with more than 20 years of experience helping people. I am licensed to practice independently in Utah and Colorado. I frequently work with people during life changes and with new physical disabilities, as well as those going through grief and complicated grief, either as a result of a death or a loss of some kind. I work with those experiencing depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress too.

My therapeutic philosophy is client centered, which means I’m here to help you with the concerns you’d like to tackle. I’m here to guide you to feeling better and I take a very practical approach to that. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused Brief Therapy to help you reach your goals. Both of these methods involve recognizing unhelpful ways of thinking and behaving, and ultimately lead to changes in order to cope in a healthier way.

I am also a trauma-trained mental health professional. When someone experiences trauma of some kind it changes the brain and can also change the body and how it functions. We depend on our fight, flight, or freeze response to keep us safe, but sometimes we can become stuck there. In being aware of trauma and its effects on a person, I can alter my therapeutic approach to help you get through that immediate response to more meaningful and lasting healing.

Life can be very difficult but please know that you aren’t alone. I’m here to help. I understand that it’s scary, and oftentimes anxiety-inducing, to ask for help. I will treat you with respect, kindness, compassion and without judgement of any kind. I’d like to assist you through your current struggles.
