About me
Hello, my name is Karen Salsman. I completed my Master’s of Science in Education for Counseling at Missouri Baptist University in 2008. I became a fully licensed therapist in the state of Missouri in 2010. From 2008 until 2015 I worked as a Counselor/Case Manager at an outpatient mental health clinic. I also worked as a Counselor in a prison from 2015-2021. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, and trauma issues.
I have experience working with adults from different cultural backgrounds and ages. I will show you the respect by getting to know you as a unique individual.
My approach in therapy is to utilize CBT, Mindfulness and Solution Focused therapies. However, as I get to know you, there could be a type of therapy that works better for your situation and we can adjust as needed.
“Don’t let the entire staircase overwhelm you. Just focus on that first step….one step at a time.”
I would love to be that someone to help support you and to be part of your journey towards the goal of a more fulfilling life.

Karen is such a great listener! She always helps me sort out all of my very busy thoughts and feelings. Karen tells me like it is. I always know what she means and that she says things to help me move forward.

Karen is such a fun and vibrant person. She is very good at immediately creating a save space but isn't afraid to call you out, which, personally, I really like. I would highly recommend her to anyone dealing with codependency or marital issues. First session she had me looking in the mirror and rethinking so many of my behaviors. Thanks, Karen!
