About me

My name is Karen Crawford Simms, and I am a licensed mental health therapist. I welcome clients of all identities, especially those from communities that have faced exclusion or inequity. I specialize in working with adults in transition—particularly those in teaching, caregiving, helping, or service professions—who are navigating relationship issues, parenting challenges, and life or professional changes such as pregnancy, marriage, divorce, menopause, or illness.
My practice is grounded in trauma-informed principles, cultural competence, and over 30 years of experience, study, and commitment to authentic healing and wholeness. I attended seminary, and if invited, I will respectfully explore issues of faith as part of therapy.

Karen is the best! I can be completely honest and open with her and she opens my eyes and helps me understand myself better.

I always grew up believing I needed to tuck my feelings away and for the longest I lived that way until I realized I couldn’t do this alone. And after signing up for BetterHelp and getting matched with Karen Simms it’s been such a turn around. Just after the first meeting alone it felt as if the weight I was carrying wasn’t as heavy anymore. She listened to me, dived deep into my world and troubles and wanted to find things that could be holding me back from being genuinely happy. I’m very grateful to have her as my therapist and very grateful that I signed up for betterhelp

My initial session with Karen was amazing. I couldn’t get out everything I was trying to say but she knew exactly what I was trying to say. If that makes sense.

I have really enjoyed working with Karen over the past few months. She listens and is very attentive. She is also willing to challenge my thinking and be realistic with me when that is necessary.

Karen has made a positive impact in just a short time. She's helped me start prioritizing my own needs while focusing on what makes me happy. Karen is easy to talk to, a great listener, and offers thoughtful and helpful feedback. I feel comfortable opening up to her and look forward to continue our sessions.
