About me

Greetings! My name is Kate Roberts and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) from North Carolina. I believe that in order for us to understand our behaviors and actions in our lives, we must first learn how to sit with our emotions and observe our thoughts. I seek to offer a warm, non-judgemental approach to better understand the place from which my clients are meeting me. I hope to meet you where you are at in your journey, support you in determining where you want to go, and help give you the resources to do that healthfully.

I am intensively trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) through Behavior Tech and have worked closely with persons experiencing high emotional distress. DBT offers an evidence-based practice for creating a life worth living and increasing skills for emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, mindfulness, and distress tolerance. I have also extensively trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I have worked for 5 years as both a peer advocate and a therapist with persons experiencing chronic illness and pain or a new diagnosis. I enjoy working with people who are currently going through a life transition such as changes in career, family, or divorce and helping support my clients in mindfully engaging their lives.

I welcome clients of all backgrounds and particularly enjoy working with LGBTQI+ persons. If you have a spiritual or religious practice, I welcome you bringing that into our therapy as a means to help support you in this journey.

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Kate Roberts. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

I’ve been talking to Kate for a few weeks and she has been a great help to me. Kate is very comfortable to talk to, and helps tremendously to get to the root of an issue you may have. Since talking to her I’ve felt more confident in myself and understanding my experiences clearly. I highly recommend speaking with her!

Kate was my first ever therapist. She is so patient and didn't rush me to speak. Rather, she encouraged me to learn to sit with an emotion or a thought and allow it to be. I learned that I am (and can continue to be) resilient. She showed me that my progress isn't always linear and circling back is necessary to continue to progress sometimes, and that's okay. Kate taught me that I owe it to myself to be honest with me, even if my truth is not what others want for me. "Patience," was the golden word and something that I will keep practicing because it is the foundation of so much for me. She showed me that I do have a lot to celebrate in my growth journey and to be kind to myself. Reframing is a skill! And like lifting weights in a gym, I don't train the same muscle group, or skill, to exhaustion but some push-through is necessary to keep growing. I'm very thankful for this experience. I'm thankful Kate was my therapist. I wish her all the best.

I have been working with Kate Roberts for a couple months, and she is teaching me priceless skills for navigating my emotions and dealing with life's challenges. I always feel heard and I never feel judged. She offers great advice, asks excellent questions, and speaks the truth even when it is hard to hear. It's obvious how much she enjoys helping people, and she truly excels at it. Thank you, Kate!

Kate Roberts has so far been really great. She's able to calm me down when I feel upset, and help me see a situation from a different perspective. I have only had 2 sessions with her so far, but they have been a positive experience and I feel like we are going to be able to accomplish my goals together.
