About me

Do you ever feel unheard, isolated, or overwhelmed? Perhaps you are experiencing intense emotions that you have never felt before, and are feeling a bit out of control. It is important to have someone who will listen to you and support you through the unknown. That's where I may be of help. I am Katherine Elliston, a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW). I have been licensed for over 8 years. I completed my Masters in Social Work at the University of Georgia. My experience in treating depression, anxiety, chronic stress, and grief/loss will be used to meet you where you are at. Together, we can work through these difficulties and develop strategies on how to manage them. We can do this so you can become "you" again!

I have specialized experience in treating perinatal mental health. This includes perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (including postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety, and grief from pregnancy loss). I have worked with pregnant and postpartum women for 5 years. This period of life can be challenging and the emotions surrounding pregnancy can be difficult to overcome. That's where I can be helpful. I have also worked with a diverse population, including adult men and women, children, and teenagers. I have training and hands on experience working with the LGBTQA population. You are welcome here, and you are safe here!

You may find my counseling approach as warm and non-judgmental. I think it is so important to connect with my clients and see the world through their view. You may see me draw from several different therapeutic approaches, including cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, and psychodynamic. Counseling is not just "one size fits all". I want you to be involved in your counseling experience so that we can work together as a team. We may have some goals in mind, and then decide later on to change our approach and/or work on new goals.

I am so glad that you reached out. It can be incredibly difficult to ask for help, so know that you are already one step ahead! I look forward to meeting you and working with you.

Katherine helped me work through one of the most difficult and trying times in my life. If it wasn’t for her, I’m not sure I would be here.
