About Me

Hello and welcome! My name is Kate, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Missouri. I also hold an alcohol and drug counselor certification. I received my Bachelor’s in Psychology at Rockhurst University in Kansas City in 2007 and my Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Avila University in Kansas City in 2016. I have 6 years of experience in the mental health field, starting with working in a local domestic violence shelter focusing on trauma and survivors of abusive relationships. Since then, I have been in a community mental health setting where I have gained experience assisting clients with a variety of issues including trauma, psychosis, anxiety, depression, substance use, relationship struggles, self-esteem and more. I use a variety of treatment modalities to ensure that we find something that works for you so that you can start improving your daily functioning and decreasing your distress.

Victor Frankl once said, “When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.” I find this rings true for many clients seeking mental health services. As a therapist, I strive to challenge my clients to make the necessary changes to better their lives. Most often people are not able to change their situations, but with a little help they can develop a brighter outlook on themselves as well as their futures and learn skills to address the day-to-day challenges that present. I believe that it takes immense strength to reach out for help and to be willing to do the work to start addressing your various areas of struggle. I commend you for taking this step! Together, we will work at your pace to address the issues you feel are most important. I look forward to meeting you and working together on this journey!

She has really helped me sort my thoughts. Its nice to have someone who truly helps you come down from over panicking.

Katherine has been the best counselor I’ve had. She takes the time to listen and address what I need addressed. In the past I’ve had counselors ignore my past trauma and just want to fix what my problem is now instead of getting to the root of it. Katherine wants to help me with that and then move from there. I’m so happy that I got paired with her!
