About me

I have been counseling individuals, families and couples since 2000. I have worked with clients in outpatient settings, partial hospitalizations, and intensive outpatient settings. I have extensive experience working with adults and adolescents with behavioral and/or addiction struggles.

I consider it an honor to be able to work with clients at particularly challenging periods in their life. I believe God has a purpose and a good plan for each of us. Sometimes we need a time of reflection and evaluation of our perspectives to be able to move forward. Seeds of depression and anxiety can be hindering God's best for our lives. The great news is that these can be overcome.

I believe God wants to renew our minds, and with this in mind, I pursued training in Transformational Prayer, which is one technique for God to heal our brokenness. My approach to providing therapy is to tailor my approach specifically to each individual. While always providing a Christian perspective, I attempt to understand the individual and the individual's needs and use a combination of CBT, DBT and Theophostic Prayer, as well as using training received through the Pacific Institute on the importance of positive thinking.

I have a Bachelor of Science with an emphasis in Psychology and Business. In the graduate program at University of Houston, I pursued a joint Masters in Business and a Masters in Social Work and became licensed as a Licensed Master of Social Work and later, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

I am a single mother, and God has blessed me with two wonderful (most days) children - one by birth (age 20) and one through adoption (age 15). We also have two dogs and two birds. We love time together at the beach, playing games, and/or watching movies.
