About Me
Hello, and welcome. My name is Kathryn Harper. I am a professional counselor licensed in Texas and California with years of experience working as a psychotherapist, life coach, and positive discipline parent educator.
Are you feeling anxious, stressed, and/or depressed? Are you experiencing a transition: career, education, parenting, gender questions, relationship, spiritual questions, or loss of a loved one? Are you feeling stuck in your life? Let's sit together and explore all that weighs on you. I think of counseling as a form of mentoring. You have the answers in yourself. My role is to be your companion and guide in accessing your own wisdom and power. You are stronger and more creative than you know. Therapy is an experience where I stay completely present to you, and help you explore, heal, and grow. I am LGBTQ+ friendly; here are some of the issues I help with:
-- anxiety, low self-esteem
-- mild to moderate depression and dysthymia
-- mental well-being and self-care
-- exploring the self through creative expression
-- career and life purpose challenges; finding one's "north star"
-- adults with Aspergers or ASD with level 1 and 2 support needs
-- parenting neurodiverse kids (gifted, autistic, ADHD); it can be isolating as a parent
-- positive discipline parenting techniques
-- recovering from damaging religious culture/childhood or exploring spirituality
-- coping with a diagnosis of chronic or terminal illness; life-altering injury
-- grieving the death of someone (person or animal); climate change despair
My therapeutic approach combines cognitive-behavioral strategies, mindfulness, and positive psychology theory and techniques. When we work together, I create a compassionate connection with you. We can work on "fixing what's wrong" while we also "build what's strong" in your life. You may access more resources here: https://www.kathrynharper.com/.
Your step toward counseling shows courage and faith in yourself. You can create a more fulfilling life. I look forward to working with you. My hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Pacific (12-4 p.m. Central) and 4-7 p.m. Pacific (6-9 p.m. Central). I may be able to accommodate other time slots if needed.

Great overall therapist. Very understanding and easy to talk to. Very happy with the set up Better Help has provided and the therapist I was assigned
Really great help! She has awesome purple hair
So far Kathryn has been lovely to work with! She offers amazing support whether it’s in the form of advice, educational sources to look into, “homework” assignments, or something else. I’m excited to continue working with her!
Kathryn is so kind and compassionate. She is very understanding of me and has not made me doubt her or her expertise at all. I am very content with her.
Kathryn helped me through one of the most difficult times in my life. She worked with me to get me to a healthier and more peaceful place. Definitely recommend her!
Kathryn has been extremely helpful during this very difficult time. She has been the best therapist I have ever worked with. She listens, she is empathetic and gives excellent suggestions on obstacles.
Kathryn has been wonderful to work with and I have appreciated the experience of having her help me with some short term needs and eventually develop into some longer term ones.
