About me

Hello!

I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Wisconsin with over 10 years of professional experience. I've helped many clients through a variety of issues such as anxiety, depression, and substance use. I also have experience working with coping with life's tougher transitions like grief and loss, relationship issues, chronic health conditions, career issues, as well as recovering from trauma and abuse.

Education
I attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee for my undergraduate training (BS, Psychology) as well as my masters program (MS, Educational Psychology: Community Counseling). I have been practicing in the Milwaukee area over the last ten years at various non-profit organizations. I've also completed numerous continuing education courses, trainings, and attended conferences on various topics of interest that relate to my clients above and beyond the requirements for counselors in Wisconsin.

I am the embodiment of a lifelong learner and implementing new, evidence based practices as well as integrating technology to make therapy a catalyst for lasting and consistent positive change is part of the "Why" I do what I do. While I am firmly rooted in science, I also enjoy practicing my craft and truly believe it's an art form. I truly enjoy joining my clients in their journey towards self discovery and positive change. It's a honor and a privilege that I don't take lightly, although I do enjoy and appreciate the use of humor in therapy.

Treatment Approach
I use a variety of treatment modalities depending on your specific situation, needs, and goals. We work together to identify goals and develop a plan for your success that can be adjusted at anytime. We then work to overcome barriers and build your resilience and coping skills. I use a variety of approaches and would be considered eclectic if I had to label my theoretical orientation.

I have been working in the field for quite awhile in various settings and in various roles. During my travels and continuing real life education and experience I've come to believe the Person Centered therapeutic relationship is the basis of excellent counseling, and I also pull from other approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, and Reality/Choice Therapy. I view all of these from the lens of being trauma informed, equity and accessibility minded, and multiculturally competent.

How I Can Help
I thoroughly enjoy working with clients wherever they are at in life and while healing is not always linear, I enjoy accompanying my clients through the blooms and inevitable backslides that happen in every day life while teaching, holding space, identifying current issues, creating goals, and working on specific strategies to assist you with navigating successfully and to seek and find joy, hope, and meaning. I am here to support you in that process and look forward to our journey. Congratulations on taking a positive step towards improving your mental health!

Take Good Care.
