About me

About Me

I am a licensed clinical social worker, however I began my professional journey working on macro social issues pertaining to international affairs. I have a lifelong passion to help others which began as a little girl with dreams of international diplomacy. Those dreams have changed as I have aged, developing into a calling to work one-on-one with individuals.

For college, I pursued a degree in international affairs and after university, I served as a Peace Corps Volunteer. My time overseas focused on economic justice for women and children. After returning to the U.S., I continued to focus on diplomacy working in large bureaucracies; additionally I expanded my interests, earning a master’s degree in conflict analysis and resolution.

As life continued I realized that I had a passion to work directly with individuals and I had had enough of large bureaucracies. I returned to graduate school where I earned a Masters of Social Work concentrating on Attachment, Internal Family Systems, and Transpersonal modalities. I focused on the veteran population and hospice.

For post graduate work, I went on to serve children involved with the Department of Human Services. As a social worker I have been blessed to work with a wide range of individuals in many stages of life. I have experience with young children age 3 and older; adolescents; young adults in their college years; adults; and older adults. I have worked in the hospital, psychiatric hospital, and school settings; in hospice; mental health clinics; and in the community.

My Treatment Approach

Does part of you …

… want something else, feel left out, or get angry? Are there moments when you are overwhelmed, only feeling one thing? Last week you were able to plan & this week you can’t motivate yourself; what happened to that planning part? Is part of you anxious & depressed? Are there times when you feel on top of the mountain? Does a part of you feel connected to yourself, to others, to your community?

I envision us all going beyond merely understanding ourselves, to an experience of our Self that is calm, courageous, creative, compassionate, connected, confident, clear, and curious.

Asking yourself these questions and seeking out professional counseling services is often a daunting step. Please take your time to choose a therapist who provides a safe non-judgmental atmosphere but who also offers tangible ways for you to understand and address these questions. Studies have found that the strength of the therapeutic alliance between individual & clinician is the best indicator of client success. Please take the time to read this site & consider if I may be a good fit for you and your needs.
