Hello and welcome to my profile! I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) with four years of experience in a private practice setting, providing talk therapy to a diverse group of adults. Most people who seek my support are experiencing some form of stress in their lives. This may manifest as anxiety, depression, anger, addictive behaviors, disordered eating, grief, trauma, relationship conflict, a struggle with life transitions, and trauma. I also assist people who wish to deepen their self understanding and personal growth. Whatever you are going through, I believe that we can join together to help you understand your unique experience and develop creative solutions.

I believe that effective counseling happens when we approach what you are going through with open-hearted curiosity as opposed to judgment. Effective counseling happens when your insight inspires you to make changes that work for you. Sometimes this change is visible and external. Other times, it is learning that you have the ability to accept parts of you or aspects of your life that you may worry are unacceptable.

For those who are familiar with therapeutic lingo, my approach blends insight-oriented approaches (humanistic, psychodynamic, and Internal Family Systems work) with action-oriented approaches (mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral therapy and coaching techniques). I offer my clients tools and resources, such as breath work, book/video suggestions, guided imagery, mindfulness training, and journaling prompts. These tools can help you manage and work through what is blocking you from engaging in life with a deeper sense of confidence and agency.

When we work together, you can expect a warm and curious environment - one that respects you, one that suspends judgment, one that guides you to trust yourself, and one that will help you to understand the burdens and patterns in yourself and your life that have brought you to therapy.

Katie is an amazing, empathetic listener. Being in a poor place in life often seems to attract a lot of advice, which I find to be very unpleasant and unsatisfactory. It was so nice to just have Katie listen for a change. It felt like someone cared and that they really wanted to help you. Very grateful for that.

Katie has been incredible to talk to. She really truly understands what I have been going through and has offered so many useful ways to think about my current situation. I have only had one video counseling session with Katie so far but it helped me a lot. She gave me great tips on how to manage some of the issues I am dealing with at the moment and she also provided resources that I can use to deal with my anxiety. She responds to all of my messages and I really feel like she listens to me and understands what I am going through. I highly recommend speaking with her if you're looking for an online therapist.
