About me

Hello, my name is Katie and I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker in the state of Ohio and have worked in the mental health/substance use disorder field for 12 years. I have been working as a therapist for the last 7 years and have worked with individuals with a variety of concerns such as mental health symptoms i.e. depression, anxiety, trauma, bipolar, psychosis, etc; substance use disorders such as opioid use, amphetamine use, alcohol use, etc; emotional concerns such as difficulty regulating, managing, or identifying emotions, and with a variety of different lifestyles such as LGBTQIA+, members of the kink community, ethical nonmonogamy, sex workers, etc...

My approach to therapy and clients is always from a client-centered strengths perspective. I firmly believe that clients are the expert in their own lives and experiences and my role is to empower clients to process their concerns, develop healthy coping strategies, and to promote self-advocacy. In addition, I believe it is important to recognize that all humans are worthy of dignity, respect, and kindness and I employ this in my approach to therapy.

It is very important to establish a strong therapeutic relationship with clients in order to promote success in therapy and this can be accomplished by meeting the client where they are at with an open mind.
