Katie Wilkinson

About Me

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and a Licensed Clinical Supervisor for both modalities in the State of Nevada(10+ years). I have a private practice where I see individuals, teens, couples and families from all backgrounds. I teach a MFT graduate practicum class at UNLV and also do therapy within the criminal justice population.

I am highly systems oriented in that I consider the universe all the way down to the individual (who I break down into 5 systems) when developing perspectives and problem awareness. I offer a lot of metaphor, analogy, and imagery in my therapy. I work from a strength based perspective employing techniques and interventions drawn from Family Systems Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I view problems through a lens of how does this effect the client's sense of power and impact. My extensive experience working with individuals and families has deepened my dedication to assisting people to develop emotionally, mentally, and relationaly healthy lifestyles. My role is to provide new and/or different ways of looking at challenges in order to approach them more successfully than in the past. I consciously work to come from an unbiased perspective to help you live your life in the ways you choose.

Katie is fantastic. She listens to what you have to say and provides ways of working through whatever it is you're trying to work through. She helps me look at my problems in a different lens. She affirms my feelings but also tries to get me to understand that there are things I can do to change my situation.

I just started working with Katie and she has already helped me in ways others haven’t been able to for years. She really listens and takes all your thoughts and emotions into consideration and offers so many ways to help, it’s so refreshing to feel like I’m not alone and someone is here for me and everything I’m going through. She responds quickly and is thorough with making sure to help you in any way she can and be there for you.. I’m so happy I found her.
