About Me
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (CA LCSW 88232, TX LCSW 106558 ) in Texas. In my journey to become a therapist, I completed a Master of Arts in Psychology from University of Phoenix and a Master of Social Work from University of Southern California with a concentration in children and families and sub-concentration in military. I am a veteran spouse and understand the military lifestyle and culture. I have worked in the medical setting from dialysis to psychiatric/medical hospital to hospice. I have also worked with a nonprofit that provides both substance use treatment and mental health treatment to those who are connected with the judicial system in a diversion program. I am very passionate about my work and enjoy the reward of seeing my clients take control of their journey and thrive.
I enjoy working with diverse populations and have helped clients ranging from newborns to 104 years old. I have a range of experience which includes working with depression, anxiety, grief and loss, childbirth trauma, military related stressors, caregiver stress, end of life issues, adjustment to chronic disease, self-harm, behavioral challenges, schizophrenia and other chronic mental health disorders, judicially connected and mandated clients, anger management, sexual crime victims, and LGBT. I strive to meet my clients wherever they are at and I will hold the hope for them while we work together to navigate their journey to holding their own hope.
My belief is that everyone is striving to do the very best that we can, but that sometimes situations or circumstances occur that challenge us and cause us to be overwhelmed by life. As a therapist, I enjoy helping others gain the tools they need to improve and enrich their own lives. What you need to grow and overcome your challenges will be unique to your situation, and should be driven by your own goals for yourself. In pursuit of those goals, I will utilize many different strategies such as: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), solution focused strategies, anger management training, and motivational interviewing as needed. I enjoy providing the necessary information and coping skills you need to be an active participant in your own journey.

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Katy Mckee. We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
Katy is the first therapist I've ever had and she has made it so easy to open up and I feel safe to feel vulnerable when talking to her. She has definitely helped me in MANY ways. Even the little things that I didn't think much of and when situations pop up, her words come gushing back to help me get through it.
Katy is great and very personable. She does a great job of really helping her clients get to the root of their problems and helps them find ways to cope. She shared some personal experiences as well, which made me feel very close to her. Katy is great and I would definitely recommend her.
She has helped me find out my problems and shown great ways to help fix them. I’ve recommended this service to multiple people
Katy is extremely helpful and is helping me learn more about myself and heal, I highly recommend her as a therapist
Katy has been amazing so far! She responds in a timely manner, assists me in whatever I need or any questions I may have. We’ve only had one session so far but it went really well and I can tell she cares about what she is doing. Thank you Katy!
Not only does Katy get back to me in a timely manner, she checks in with me periodically if we don’t speak between appointments. She gave me tons of tools to help myself from the very first meeting. Katy is awesome and makes me feel comfortable and safe. I really enjoy having her here for me.
