About me

I am a licensed therapist (LICSW) practicing out of Minnesota. I completed my graduate degree in Clinical Social Work at St. Catherine University and the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN. I am cisgender female and use she/her pronouns. I live with my partner, our lovely toddler, and two very spoiled cats. I am a proud first generation American (my father is from Egypt) and was raised in a multicultural household. I grew up in the Midwest, but have had the privilege of enjoying international travel with my family throughout my life. I find equal joy in the plains country I grew up in and the urban area I now call home.

I practice with an understanding that many life factors play a major role in our ability to thrive emotionally, socially, and spiritually. These factors include income, health, living environment, and family history, to name only a few. I use a dynamic, strengths-based approach. In sessions you can expect me to be warm, open, and genuine. I truly believe in the power of this process, but its success depends on your feelings of safety and trust in sessions. If for any reason you feel I am not the right fit for you, I encourage you to try with another provider! While I am happy to work with you, I appreciate that there is a chemistry to this process and I want honor that so that you can benefit the most from this work.

I believe therapy is a commitment to a better quality of life. It may help you reduce symptoms and harmful behaviors caused by mental illness. It also offers a space to process past events, new and ongoing challenges, and loss. Therapy is not always easy, but its rewards can be transformative. I am so glad you are seeking this opportunity for support and change. I look forward to learning more about you!

Katya has been fantastic. She listens, validates, provides thoughtful insights, and asks respectful and curious questions so we can work through things together. I can honestly say that sessions with her have made me a calmer, happier person as I know someone has really heard me and understands.

First of all let me start by saying Katya Karaz is a wonderful person, and amazing at what she does. I have been talking to her for few months now and I can honesty say that I have seen huge improvement with my mental health, and with my relationship with others. She is someone that I can be comfortable with and there is no judgement there. She created a space for me to cry, to feel different emotions and to understand myself a lot better. overall she's good at what she does and she helped me deal with panic attacks. Did I mention! she's a great listener. I would give her 100/10 because she broke my scale..hahaha.

I have seen so much amazing progress in myself after working with Katya. I struggled finding a long-term therapist through BetterHelp and was feeling extremely defeated. I was matched with Katya and she has been extremely supportive and understanding during all of our sessions. I literally do not know what I would do without her! She provides a platform for me to be vulnerable and provides actionable resources and advice to help better my mental health.
