About me

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 27 years of experience in helping people to effectively address life’s challenges. My areas of expertise include foster care/adoptions, depression, anxiety, anger management, stress management, family relationships, family mediation, juvenile mediation and job related difficulties. I have provided care in private practice and in- and out-patient hospital and clinic settings. I have experience in group facilitation for the emotionally ill as well as for sheltered women and those with medical diagnoses.

I am particularly interested in the development of self-empowerment. This means identifying and drawing on our individual strengths. It is easy to fall into the pits of weaknesses and that is where we often get stuck. I am more intrigued with the beauty of strength and making that work for us.
I engage in Cognitive Behavior, Solution Based and Emotional Based therapies, to name a few.

I see myself as a work partner with my clients. I care about what is important to each one as he/she navigates to resolve concerns.

My education was achieved in the Washington, DC area with a Bachelor of Sociology and a Master of Social Work. I also possess a Post-Graduate Certification in Marriage and Family Therapy. Although I grew up in the south, I have lived many years in California and Northern Virginia. As a result, I have learned a great deal about managing point of view differences.

I hope to have the opportunity to work with you.

Kay is the calming voice of reason that I didn’t know I was missing in my life. In a matter of weeks I went from crippling panic attacks and debilitating depression, to being able to breathe, having only a low level of manageable anxiety, and dreaming of the future. Of course everything comes in waves, but Kay has been the listening ear that I needed, knew the right questions to ask, and gave me the coping tools that made all the difference. I felt as if she was the loving, non judgmental, fully supportive mother figure I always craved. I had tried counseling in the past and always felt like it was lacking, so I was surprised to find myself excitedly looking forward to our calls, and jotting down notes of things I wanted to share with Kay. 10/10 recommend Kay and better help if you’re struggling with anxiety, depression or marital issues!!
