Kayla Renteria, LMHC, LPCC
About me
Hi! I'm Kayla Renteria. I am a licensed professional clinical counselor in Kentucky, and a licensed mental health counselor in Indiana. I have 7 years of counseling experience working with adults, adolescents, and families in a variety of settings. Many of my clients come to me seeking help for depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and concerns related to past trauma.
My philosophy on counseling is to empower my clients through a trusting relationship, compassion for their situation, understanding that they are doing the best they can with what they have, and a good measure of humor to keep things real. I use a variety of interventions in treatment, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness based strategies, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). All of these treatment models are evidenced-based and shown to be effective in reducing symptoms of depression, anxiety, and trauma.
When we first meet, you can expect us to spend a session or two getting to know each other. It's helpful for me to know as much about your history and current circumstances as I can, so that I can understand the whole picture of your situation. I also want to ensure that you feel like we're a good match. The therapeutic relationship is key to success in treatment. We'll talk about your goals and what you want to get out of our sessions, and together we'll begin a path to getting there.
I'm so happy that you are doing this for yourself. It's not easy to take that first step, but I'm glad you're here. When you're ready, feel free to reach out.
