Kelly Day, LCSW
About me
Hi! My name is Kelly Day, I am Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Substance Abuse Counselor. I attended Marian University for my Bachelor's in Social Work degree. After graduating I worked in county Human Services agency as a case manager for clients with multiple operating while intoxicated offenses and completed the operating while intoxicated driver's assessments. I then accepted a position within that same agency to a mental health/substance abuse case manager for client with severe mental health issues and on court ordered commitments. I went on to received my Master's Degree in Social Work from University of Wisconsin-Madison. After graduating I worked in an outpatient clinical setting seeing clients with dual diagnosis. I also began working as an on call crisis screener for a tri county area. I then took a position with a hospice agency as a hospice social worker. I learned much about life and death in this time. I thoroughly enjoyed working with the patients and their families. I continue to work in an outpatient setting with mental health and substance abuse clients.
I use a person centered approach in therapy sessions, I see myself as a guide in your progress. I follow the client's lead in sessions and in setting goals. I use a strength based approach in problem solving. I have been trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing(EMDR). This therapy is very beneficial to release trauma stored in the brain.
I am married with 3 children. My hobbies include biking, kayaking, spending time on Lake Superior and reading novels.
I look forward to working with you!
