Hello! I'm a counselor/mental health provider in the states of Iowa, Oregon, and Texas. I have four years of experience in the counseling field. I'm a Navy veteran and I'm married to a Coast Guard veteran. We have an amazing son who has autism, and I am blessed to be able to homeschool him.
I am working on my Doctorate in Counseling with a trauma specialization from Liberty University. I earned my MS in Professional Counseling from Grand Canyon University in 2019. I also have a MEd in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University.
I have extensive training and experience in trauma-informed treatment. Most of my experience has been with combat veterans, first responders, and individuals with complex posttraumatic stress. I utilize a variety of therapy approaches incorporating techniques to individualize treatment, but the primary modalities I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Self-awareness is key to healing, so my practice is client-centered. These approaches will provide you with methods to solve problems utilizing your own strengths. Other approaches may be used to help facilitate your progress. I do not work with paraphilic disorders.
I believe it is essential to build trusting relationships with clients. I've had an array of life experiences that have shaped me into the person I am today. These positive and negative experiences help me connect with others in a unique way. My primary goal is to help others evoke their own strengths and resources to heal and make positive changes in their lives.
I am available for live sessions from 5:00am-9:00am CST (3:00am-7:00am PT) and 6:00pm-8:00pm CST (4:00pm-6:00pm PT). Of course, with this platform you can send a message at any time. I am not physically available 24/7, however I do respond to messages at least once per day.

Kelly was there for me at one of the most difficult times of my life, and when my usual therapist was on a month-long vacation. She stepped right in, really listening while offering compassion, expertise, and practical solutions to what I was going through. I don't know what I would have done without her. If I ever lose my regular therapist, I would turn to Kelly in a heartbeat -- she's that good!

Kelly’s compassion can be felt through the phone. I’ve been so grateful to have been matched with her when I did because she’s literally been an answer to my prayers. Sometimes therapists leave Better Help and move on and while I’m happy they do, it left me in a rough spot of trying to find someone else who could help me continue my healing journey. Kelly has been able to offer me solid, practical tools and steps and helps me process in a way that I’ve always felt a counselor should but have never received quite like the way she does it and I’m so thankful for that!!!

She listened to what I had to say and was very attentive. She remembered things from past sessions and answered relatively quickly. Her worksheets helped me a lot. I really recommend her.

Kelly is a lovely therapist who is incredibly supportive and non judgemental. She worked hard our first session to understand my needs and ensure I had a safe space with her to discuss my journey. I’ve been to a lot of therapists where this was not their primary goal, and therefore I was unable to make much progress. In just a couple sessions I already feel incredibly supported, which makes the healing that much more approachable.
