About me

I am a licensed clinical mental health counselor with board certification in the state of North Carolina, where I have practiced eight years, collaborating with individuals and their loved ones to improve communication, relationships, and overall quality of life. I received my master of science in Rehabilitation Counseling and Psychology from the University of North Carolina. I am involved in research on holistic healthcare and have co-authored articles exploring therapy treatments for individuals diagnosed with cancer and depression. I am also a certified BodyFlow (yoga/tai chi/pilates) instructor and am interested in helping you develop healthy habits, both physically and mentally.

I take a humanistic approach in the therapeutic alliance, as I believe all individuals--with the right environment and supports--are capable of actualizing their goals and progressing toward a meaningful life. My aim is to empower you and provide you with tools for building the confidence and motivation necessary to achieve goals that are congruent with your wants and values. Through the use of cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and motivational interviewing, we will work together to recognize and target life stressors that may be contributing to disruptive feelings, including anxiety, depression, isolation, amotivation, inability to focus, etc.

The first steps toward change can be the hardest part of the process. I look forward to working with you as we explore your story and discover your strengths, creating a present that reflects your truest self.

Kelly is extremely reliable and dependable. She is a great listener and also understands what is needed to guide me to a solution

I started sessions with Kelly back in January, and I'm so glad that I found her on BetterHelp! Kelly has been a huge support in the last six months as I've navigated finding my way through a global pandemic, on top of all the regular ole life stuff. I feel like Kelly's brain and my brain really click, and it's awesome to have humor, book recommendations and a genuine feeling of rapport be a part of therapy. Thanks, Kelly!

Kelly is an outstanding counselor. She thinks holistically about her clients and how all aspects of their life come to bear on a problem, even if the problem you're working to address is a specific behavior. This has been super valuable for me, and I can't imagine getting paired with a stronger counselor. I highly recommend Kelly!

I have been working with Kelly for about four months now, and I have felt so grateful to be matched with her since day one. Truth be told, I haven’t really “clicked” with therapists or counselors in the past, but Kelly is super relatable and really fully commits her time and energy to her clients. She is very easily approachable and has a gentle yet no-nonsense way of challenging my deep-seated beliefs about how life, love, and relationships “should” be. She has continuously helped me to work through messy emotions and anxious thoughts with great care and patience. Because of her, I have found it possible to practice acceptance and awareness and to embrace the here and now. Whereas, before, I was adamant that I knew exactly what my future self would need, and I had a very hard time focusing on the needs of my “now self”. I still have a lot of work to do in this area, but I've made some pretty huge strides with Kelly's help! Also, she has a great sense of humor and a talent for manifesting unexpected “a-ha!” moments even when all I could see before was disorganized chaos and uncertainty. I thought that I was at least moderately self-aware before starting therapy with Kelly, but she has really helped me to realize that if I replace judgment with curiosity, there will always be new things to learn and love about myself.

I appreciate Kelly's willingness to go at my pace and to try lots of different things to find what works best for me.

When I first started my sessions with Kelly, I felt lost and depressed. Kelly has helped me a lot and I don’t feel depressed anymore. She helped to realise many things and to learn about myself. She is an amazing psychologist!
