About me

My name is Kelly Swinyard. I have served as a therapist for the past 15 years. I work in a private practice, offering therapy to clients of all ages and backgrounds. I specialize in anger disorders as well as depressive symptoms. In addition to being a Licensed Professional Counselor, I am also a certified anger management specialist.
I also work regularly with clients dealing with moderate to extreme levels of anxiety. For 13 years I worked on a crisis team offering counseling to those experiencing trauma and grief. I primarily utilize solution-focused brief therapy. I feel that clients often know what he or she wants out of therapy; however, he or she just needs guidance finding the proper tool. A great deal of therapy time will be spent teaching the most appropriate techniques that can be practically used outside of therapy when needed. Solution-focused brief therapy allows for effective therapy in a shorter time frame. This counseling approach lends itself well to our fast paced society where we are constantly multi-tasking our responsibilities while also seeking to maintain and/or work on our mental health and well-being.
My counseling approach is interactive, with a direct focus on the client's needs throughout each session. Based on the client's individual needs, a plan of treatment will be established. I am highly trained in counseling approaches sensitive to the diverse needs of all clients. I will establish very early on a trusting, empathetic relationship with each client I work with in sessions.
If you are in need of therapy, please let me be here for you. I have flexible hours for you to pick an available time that works for you.
I look forward to working with you.

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Kelly Swinyard. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

Kelly is the straightforward guide I've needed; she doesn't sugarcoat things with encyclopedia definitions or give generic advice I've already heard. In a few ways she's posed questions to me that have really made me step back and realise some essential parts I've been missing in my introspection, as well as actionable steps to start approaching my problems. I feel like I'll be able to start climbing the mountain with her help without getting lost fantasizing about the summit!
