About Me

Hello and welcome!

My name is Kelsey. I am a Michigan native, though I spent nearly a decade as an expat in Europe. When I am not doing therapy, I can be found hiking the dunes along Lake Michigan, kayaking around the Great Lakes, and collecting passport stamps.

I received my Master's Degree in Counselor Education/Counseling Psychology from Western Michigan University and my Master's Degree in Education from La Universidad Católica de Valencia San Vicente Mártir. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor here in Michigan as well as a Nationally Certified Counselor. Some of my counseling experience over the years includes serving at-risk youth and families at a community agency, offering guidance to teens and young adults in universities, and providing outpatient therapy to adults. Prior to my work as a therapist in the States, I taught high school in Spain. These days, I still do some teaching as a Certified Mental Health First Aid Instructor offering courses on suicide prevention.

In therapy, I use a combination of techniques, depending on your individual goals, previous counseling experience, level of comfort, and personal preferences. Some of these approaches may include: cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, solution-focused interventions, person-centered therapy, mindfulness meditation, and psychoeducation. I am also certified in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy. My approach is open to change, based on what works best for you. Because it is important that this be a safe and welcoming space, I am always welcome to feedback. Wherever you may find yourself right now, I am willing to meet you there.

Kelsey is great! I love chatting with her, she's helped me a ton with talking over my feelings and concerns. I feel like she really listens and gives me good tips on how to handle things.
