About Me

Hello and welcome! My name is Kelsey and I am a Michigan native, though I spent nearly a decade as an expat in Europe. When I am not doing therapy, I can be found hiking with my dog, kayaking the Great Lakes, trail riding my horse, or collecting passport stamps.

I received my Master's Degree in Counselor Education and Counseling Psychology from Western Michigan University and completed an internship at Aquinas College. I received my Master's Degree in Education from La Universidad Católica de Valencia in Godella, Spain and completed an internship at Escuelas San José. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor here in Michigan as well as a Nationally Certified Counselor. Some of my counseling experience over the years includes serving at-risk youth and families at a community agency, offering guidance to teens and young adults in universities, and providing outpatient therapy to adults. Prior to my work as a therapist in the States, I taught high school in Spain. These days, I still do some teaching as a certified Mental Health First Aid Instructor doing courses on suicide prevention.

In therapy, I use a combination of techniques, depending on your individual goals, previous counseling experience, level of comfort, and personal preferences. Some of these approaches may include: cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, solution-focused interventions, person-centered therapy, mindfulness meditation, and psychoeducation. I am also certified in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy. Feel free to reach out if you have questions or would like to talk more about what the therapeutic process might look like.

In our work together, my approach is open to change based on what works best for you. That said, it is important that this be a safe space, free of judgement, and open to feedback. Wherever you find yourself, I am willing to meet you there. I am glad you are here and I look forward to meeting you soon!
