About me

Hello! My name is Kerrie, and I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker practicing in the state of North Carolina. I have over 10 years of experience working with individuals seeking services for a variety of reasons, including depression, anxiety, grief and loss, codependency and issues related to trauma and abuse. I have also worked extensively with individuals who have been impacted by a loved one’s addiction or psychiatric crises.

I believe that we all have an inherent drive to create a calm, peaceful and meaningful life and that therapy is an excellent tool to help achieve that goal. As a client, you are the expert of your life, and my role is assist you in creating the life you want. In service of this, I use a systems based approach to counseling so that together we can define your goals and work through whatever is acting as a barrier to achieving those goals. I have experience in using various behavioral therapies, motivational interviewing, mindfulness strategies and psychodynamic styles. While the application of interventions will vary person to person, my style is rooted firmly in a trauma informed, strengths-based and client centered approach. Finally, I find that therapy can often focus too much on the heaviness of life at the expense of finding joy. When appropriate, I like to integrate humor and a sense of lightness to help clients experience life's full range of emotions.

Reaching out and beginning this process is a great first step and big accomplishment. I look forward to working with your in the next steps of your journey!
