About Me

People have always told me, "You're so easy to talk to," and individuals who desire to focus on personal growth and the development needed for improved self love and interpersonal relationships tend to seek me as a therapist. I embody compassion for people and the struggles they have that bring them into our offices, and I easily connect with clients from a variety of backgrounds. My approach is quite eclectic in that along the therapeutic journey I will intermingle concepts from a number of models to help my clients arrive at their specific goals and cater to their unique needs. I believe in meeting people right where they are, and helping them move toward a better sense of self.
One of my specialties is helping couples improve communication, intimacy, family issues, and how they relate to each other. Couples often get caught up in destructive cycles that create great frustration for them. They find themselves unable to talk, be intimate and relate to each other as desired. This can have severe implications not only for the couple, but the whole family. My work is the perfect integration of education, 18+ years of marriage, 6 birth children, 15 years of teaching special education, and a lifetime of experience!

I've already written a review for Keynia but happy to write a follow up note now that we've been seeing each other for several months now. I love meeting with Keynia every week. I have never had any urgent or pressing things, but long term nagging issues that have been lurking beneath the surface and have affected the quality of my relationship with my husband and my young children and other close people in my life. When I first came to speak with Keynia, I told her that I was ready to make the changes needed in myself, the ones that I could control, to help affect the change I needed in my life and I never imagined that this domino or butterfly effect would happen so quickly. I am very coachable but I credit Keynia's patience and ability to open my eyes to see different perspectives and see how my good intentions don't make up for the way in which I think and interact with people since everyone perceives things in a different way. She has really taught me more patience not with just others but also with myself. I have referred everyone who has even broached the topic of counseling to sign up for Betterhelp and to work with Keynia. Sometimes when I share I am seeing Keynia every week, people wonder if I need it. I absolutely do. She helps me celebrate the wins every week, and helps me walk through the challenges that come up during the previous week and helps coach me through how to better handle the situation better next time. She digs deep and helps me understand that some of the feelings and intense emotions I have are actually tied to deeply rooted feelings from my past. We are working through some techniques now to help me stop and unlink those and I am so grateful to have her help. I have been seeing her for months and plan to continue doing so, for my own personal growth and I truly believe, for the wonderful butterfly effect it has also made on my family. I can't stress enough that this is not just when you truly feel depressed or in a really bad situation. If you want regular check-ins and ways to find more balance, peace, understanding and happiness, I couldn't recommend Keynia more.

Keynia is gentle yet reaffirming. It’s like talking to an old friend, but one you know that always has your back.

Keynia is extremely knowledgable and helpful. She gives me time to talk and then helps me think of things in a different way. She has helped me reframe several long held, life limiting beliefs. This has a positive impact on my life.
