My name is Kim Wright. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Registered Play Therapist (RPT) in Missouri. I have a Masters of Education degree in Counseling and have 10 years of experience. I've worked with both adults and children/young adults ages 12-18. The clients I have worked with have a wide range of concerns: addiction, parenting and relationship issues, attachment, anxiety including life transitions and depression.
My counseling style can be characterized as a warm and interactive partnership. I practice from an eclectic approach and primarily utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Person-Centered Therapy. I believe that a trusting, ethical, therapeutic relationship is what is most important in counseling in order to support my clients through their journey.
The information collected in the first few sessions helps guide what approach will best fit my client's needs and situation. I focus on the counseling goals that are most important to my client. Once these goals are identified , I work with my client to create a plan to help learn and develop skills to achieve those goals.
