I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Texas. I work with clients from many different backgrounds, and have experience counseling individuals from age 12 onward, as well as couples and families.
My specialty of focus is trauma counseling, but I also have an extensive history of helping with anxiety and depression, as well as relationship difficulties and adjusting to life’s challenges. My counseling style is one of compassion and caring. My desire is to facilitate your growth and healing, while at the same time providing a safe space for you to share your emotions.
The therapeutic techniques I utilize consistently include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well as Cognitive Processing Therapy. These types of therapy styles explore the meanings we attach to significant events in our lives as well as to help break the cycle of negative thought patterns that have developed over time, and to help develop much more realistic and healthy mindsets.
My purpose is not to walk ahead of you, telling you where to go, nor is it to walk behind you, picking up the pieces, but rather to walk beside you, giving you support on your healing journey and working collaboratively with you to find solutions that work for you!
You’ll find that I have a soft approach, and that I will wholeheartedly encourage you to find strength and power within yourself. I fully believe in fostering growth and change through helping you discover your own ability to heal.
This is your safe space for counseling and you are welcome to message me on this site. Please be aware that it is my obligation to respond to messages in no less than 24 hours, but I do make it a priority to check messages as often as possible, and will likely respond in less than that. You do have the option of working with me through messaging, and I can help by providing useful information and tools for you via the messaging platform. You are also welcome to have live session with me, however, if you feel that would be beneficial, and I do those on an appointment basis. All information you provide to me, whether by messaging or any of the live session options, is confidential.
Please be aware that I do check my messages several times per day, but if I am in session or away from my phone or laptop, I may not be able to respond right away. I will, however, respond to your message as quickly as I am able.
If you are experiencing a crisis or emergency and are unable to remain safe, please contact 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.

Kimberly is attentive, available and flexible. She has tremendous recall of all our discussions and is able to see patterns and similarities through a variety of issues that I overlook. She is an excellent listener and consistently provides a variety of coping and processing techniques to help me work through my areas of struggle. Most importantly, she has taken the time to know me and genuinely works to help me find solutions specific to the person I am. I very much appreciate all that she has contributed to my wellness and I am grateful to have her support, encouragement, and expertise in my corner. Thank you, Kimberly!

Kim has been by my side for over 2 years now, helping my navigate through some of the most traumatic and triumphant time of my life. I am proud of the progress I’ve made with her and value her feedback, opinions, guidance and overall support. Although we’ve never met in person, she is one of the most important persons in my life

I love Dr. Kim. She's helped me so much with a variety of things. Especially when I got thrown a lot of curveballs in a short amount of time. She helped me focus on immediate needs and we worked towards long term needs later. I cannot recommend her enough.

Have been in a dark place for a while now ....and still struggling but I feel Kimberly has been very helpful I know I need more sessions. But after everyone I’ve had I have a new outlook and think much more clean I think I’m on that stage where I have to let my crazy anxiety give me the biggest panic attack so I can experience it and know this will not bring me down.

Kim is my second counselor on BetterHelp.com & I’m so happy I found her! Would have been easy to give up after I wasn’t a huge fan of my first counselor but I am so glad I didn’t!! BetterHelp made it easy to switch and find the right person easily!
Kim has a comforting presence, even virtually, and with her help I’ve tackled a lot of tough personal issues. I’ve made so much progress and have no plans to stop anytime soon! I’m so happy to finally feel like I’m making real progress with Kim!

Wow, I can't stress enough how helpful it has been working with Kimberley, I'm so thankful this platform exists and that I got matched with her.
I also really like how there are multiple ways to talk to and get in touch with her through this app and that she is really communicative about her process and what I can expect from her in terms of support and response times, it takes a lot of the anxiety of talking about difficult subjects in general out of the equation knowing that I am working with someone who has good boundaries and is very kind and professional.

Kimberly levels with me and treats me like a trusted mentor would; it doesn’t feel like a doctor-patient type relationship at all. She has been rooting for me, helping me get hold of my issues, and she’s FUNNY on top of all of that! I really appreciate how real she is. I’ve got nothing but amazing things to say about my fantastic experience with her!

I have been working with my therapist, Kimberley Smith, for close to a year dealing with major anxiety, depression, past & new trauma, chronic stress, family & personal issues, an autoimmune disorder that causes mental health flare ups and more.
Kim is extremely knowledgeable, patient, calm and she can empathize with me on a deep level. She is truly rare and understands all of these layers in a way that no one in my life does or has.
I talk to Kim about everything that I'm going through. I worry & get anxious a lot, but I feel comfortable/safe talking to Kim. I trust her!
Kim is a partner working with me through my mental health maze and the effects that has on my physical health. She cares about my well being like a true friend.
I've been to other therapists. They never understood me or listened like Kim does. I feel more secure about myself when I talk to her. My anxiety calms down, and I feel like I can see light.
I've made a lot of progress (still am) with Kim's compassionate support and guidance, through each step.
Kim is always there for me, and we work through whatever happens or has happened together.

Kimberly is a very professional and attentive therapist. I’ve only had one session with her and felt a great difference in my life. She is very non judgmental and meets you where you are at in your situation to help you find relief, without being pushy or too opinionated on your situation. I completely recommend her!
