About me
Therapy Experience
I have worked with children and families in the social work field for over a decade and am a proud 2010 LakeIand University Master’s of Arts in Community Counseling graduate. I have extensive experience working with children, youth, and adults in the areas of child abuse or neglect, domestic violence, sexual assault, PTSD, teen issues, self esteem, parenting/co-parenting, blended households, depression, ADHD/ADD, anxiety, grief, life transitions, and healthy intimate relationships. My primary therapeutic frameworks are play therapy, art therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational enhancement, and client centered approaches.
Counseling Approach
I approach my clients in a nonjudgmental, collaborative, and supportive way. My focus is on getting to know my clients and working with them to create positive changes, moving away from despair and anxiety toward a life of overall wellness. In order for counseling or therapy to be effective, building a strong therapeutic relationship is vital. Trust and safety are essential to establishing a therapeutic relationship and honesty allows me to easily nurture that relationship. We will work together to identify and improve your supports and strengths in order to sustain the progress you make while in therapy.
