About me

Welcome...
My name is Kimberly Sober and since 1998 I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) through the state of Oklahoma. I obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Applied Behavioral Studies. Additionally, I hold a Bachelor degree in Psychology and a minor in computer science. I am very technology savvy which is important to providing on-line therapy. Tele-therapy is unique for each person and therapist. It is fun, interactive and highly motivating. Through communication and partnership I am confident you will have a positive experience.
My goal is to empower you to make the desired changes in your life and to learn new coping skills and strategies so you can facilitate change when needed in the future. Part of the therapeutic process is getting to know each other. During sessions I will ask questions to help me better understand your situation and desired goals. I encourage my clients to also ask questions as I want to ensure we have clear, concise communication. This will assist both of us in making the best use of the time we spend together.
I utilize and offer evidence based and professionally accepted therapeutic techniques and approaches including (but not limited to):
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) - a type of psychotherapy in which negative patterns of thought about the self and the world are challenged in order to alter unwanted behavior patterns or treat mood disorders.
Trauma Focused (TF-CBT) - cognitive behavioral therapy that addresses the specific emotional and mental health needs of children, adolescents, adult survivors, and families who are struggling to overcome the destructive effects of early trauma
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) - concentrates on finding solutions in the present time and exploring one’s hope for the future to find quicker resolution of one’s problems.
Person Centered Therapy - seeks to facilitate a client's self-actualizing tendency, "an inbuilt proclivity toward growth and fulfillment", via acceptance (unconditional positive regard), therapist congruence (genuineness), an empathetic understanding.
Spirituality Therapy - attempts to treat a person's soul as well as mind and body by accessing individual belief systems and using that faith in a higher power to explore areas of conflict in life.
I hope to learn more about you and how I can help... Kim

Kim takes time to really listen to the things you say between the lines and gets down to the root of your problems. She has given me so many tools that I can use any time I need. I highly suggest and respect her.

Kim is wonderful. I enjoyed my time getting to know her so much. I came to her in the winter, when I was depressed and having a hard time navigating my loss of my first child and now, I am leaving counseling with tons of self care, coping, reframing and motivational techniques that she has taught to me. I feel confident in my ability to handle hard things because I know how to identity triggers and warning signs and now now how to appropriately cope with them. I feel she is especially great at dealing with miscarriage, grief, reframing thoughts and anxiety. I can't reccomend her more highly. Thank you Kim for all your hard work with me and for helping me get my life back on track.

She is great! She let’s me express myself with no judgement. From the beginning she has been in contact with me since the first day I was assigned to her. She checks up on me and sends me encouraging messages through chat . Thanks Kimberly
