Kimberly Sober

About Me

My name is Kimberly Sober and since 1998 I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) through the state of Oklahoma. I obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Applied Behavioral Studies. Additionally, I hold a Bachelor degree in Psychology and a minor in computer science. I am very technology savvy which is important to providing on-line therapy. Tele-therapy is unique for each person and therapist. It is fun, interactive and highly motivating. Through communication and partnership I am confident you will have a positive experience.
My goal is to empower you to make the desired changes in your life and to learn new coping skills and strategies so you can facilitate change when needed in the future. Part of the therapeutic process is getting to know each other. During sessions I will ask questions to help me better understand your situation and desired goals. I encourage my clients to also ask questions as I want to ensure we have clear, concise communication. This will assist both of us in making the best use of the time we spend together.
I utilize and offer evidence based and professionally accepted therapeutic techniques and approaches including (but not limited to):
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) - a type of psychotherapy in which negative patterns of thought about the self and the world are challenged in order to alter unwanted behavior patterns or treat mood disorders.
Trauma Focused (TF-CBT) - cognitive behavioral therapy that addresses the specific emotional and mental health needs of children, adolescents, adult survivors, and families who are struggling to overcome the destructive effects of early trauma
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) - concentrates on finding solutions in the present time and exploring one’s hope for the future to find quicker resolution of one’s problems.
Person Centered Therapy - seeks to facilitate a client's self-actualizing tendency, "an inbuilt proclivity toward growth and fulfillment", via acceptance (unconditional positive regard), therapist congruence (genuineness), an empathetic understanding.
Spirituality Therapy - attempts to treat a person's soul as well as mind and body by accessing individual belief systems and using that faith in a higher power to explore areas of conflict in life.
I hope to learn more about you and how I can help... Kim

She is great! She let’s me express myself with no judgement. From the beginning she has been in contact with me since the first day I was assigned to her. She checks up on me and sends me encouraging messages through chat . Thanks Kimberly

Kim is a phenomenal counselor! She is incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and attentive as well as overwhelmingly kind and supportive. I've never felt so comfortable with a therapist in my entire life and it is no understatement to say she's helped me change my life for the better. I can't praise her enough!

Kimberly is the best therapist I have ever had! She is a super understanding listener and is always ready with advice which makes my situations so much easier to deal with. She is non-judgmental in such a way that makes me comfortable sharing everything, even if I might not tell it to a friend of mine. I strongly recommend working with Kimberly.

I worked with Kim for over 4 months on a variety of issues including relationships, grief, and self-acceptance. From our first session, Kim made me feel very comfortable, I found her to be perceptive and easy to talk to. She was extremely forthcoming, offered great insight, and picked up on things quickly. I felt like Kim genuinely cared about my issues, listened carefully, and did her best to help.

Going into therapy, I was skeptical about whether or not it would help me; it is not an exaggeration to say that Kim's guidance exceeded my expectations greatly and has left me a more self-aware confident person with a much more hopeful outlook on my future.

She's so great at communicating through all avenues. She reminds me of our sessions and gives me exercises to do in between those sessions. She very clearly understands my goals. She's very knowledgeable. I feel like I will continue to make great progress with her.

She is very kind, thoughtful, and easy to talk to. Her advice comes from the heart but also from scripture.
