About me

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Georgia with 5 years of professional work experience. I earned my Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of North Carolina Wilmington in 2018. I also received a post-baccalaureate certificate in Gender and Women’s Studies. My graduate program focused on Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Strengths Based Solution Focused Therapy. I have two years of experience working with people struggling with addiction, and three years working with children and adolescents in various settings. I have assisted people suffering from anxiety and depression, low-motivation and low-self esteem, grief, bi-polar disorder, BPD, survivors of physical and sexual trauma, PTSD.

Prior to returning to graduate school, I spent a decade working as a birth activist and midwifery advocate. I was the president and co-founder of “Where’s My Midwife?” a non-profit organization that successfully worked to affect policy change at hospitals that were discriminating against midwifery care. I served on the Board of Directors of three national organizations: BirthNetwork National, the American Association of Birth Centers, and the Coalition for Improving Maternity Services. My experience taught me that we need to be educating young people about sex, birth, and the power of their bodies. I especially enjoy working with folks in transition - kids, adolescents, all phases of fertility and motherhood, and menopause.

I believe in placing the client at the center of their care, allowing them to guide and determine the focus of their treatment. Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. I strive to do so by creating a safe space where my clients can unpack and work through whatever is troubling them. It is my goal to reconnect each client with their own sense of agency, so that they can build the life of their dreams.
