About me
EXPERIENCE
I provide online counseling through BetterHelp, and through my Wisconsin-based private practice.
Since 2017, I have been helping people move forward through their codependency, life transitions, anxiety, grief, and relationship issues.
I have also provided counseling services through Gundersen Health System, La Crosse County (WI) Mobile Crisis Unit, Project Pathfinder Inc. I engage in clinical consultation and ongoing training to help ensure ethical, quality care.
EDUCATION
I received my Masters degrees in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (Winona State University) and Human Development (Saint Mary’s University of MN). My undergraduate degrees are in Studio Art (University of MN-Duluth) and Visual Communications (Art Institute of Pittsburgh).
APPROACH
My therapeutic approach is collaborative, empathic, and nonjudgmental. I enjoy helping clients imagine possibilities, express themselves fully, and work toward creating new experiences of life.
I see my work as a counselor through a spiritual lens. From this perspective, I hold my clients’ presence, histories, and hopes as sacred. I value individual differences, and work to create an atmosphere of openness, trust, and acceptance. I experience counseling as a gateway into deeper connection with one’s self and others. And I believe these connections are the basis for emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
STRENGTHS
My strengths as a counselor involve intuition, deep empathy, and unconditional positive regard for my clients. I’m particularly skilled in visualizing possibilities, and helping empower clients to make meaningful change.
PERSONAL
I’m a mother and an artist. I like flower gardening, and expressive things like painting and dancing. I experience both counseling and art-making as therapeutic, transformative processes.

Additional areas of focus: Relationship issues, Self esteem, Compassion fatigue, Codependency

Kris has been excellent my entire therapy journey. She was very easy to talk to initially when I was nervous. She has helped me feel understood and protected. She has helped me make a lot of progress and is always supportive of my goals.

I have been with Kris for 8 months as I have been working through a divorce and her intuitive style of counseling has been a perfect fit for me.

Kris quietly and perceptively helps guide me through confusing and difficult times. She gently pushes me to heal what needs to be healed by giving me tools to do so and nudges in the right direction.
My primary reason for coming to Kris was about relationships. Since I’ve been seeing her, my anxiety has melted away and I understand so much more about the drivers behind it.

I'm very glad to have been matched with Kris. I was looking for support with relationship issues, anxiety, and self-care. Kris has been wonderful to talk to about these things. She is insightful, compassionate, and has helped me feel much more comfortable and confident talking about, and managing the things that led me to explore therapy. I appreciate that she offers great resources for me to look into if I need more support, or want to learn more, and I'm especially grateful for her encouragement, and gentle demeanor. Since beginning our sessions together, I feel a new awareness and a shift in perspective that has helped me to make some positive changes, and ultimately feel much better.
Thank you Kris!

KRISTEN MORGAN...I would highly recommend her. Never having used a therapist before I was nervous. I was afraid of being that open. Kristen gave me the space and time to find my comfort zone in talking with her. I am so thankful to have weekly sessions with her. My inner peace is starting to bloom.
