About me

Hi! Welcome to BetterHelp.

We face many challenges in life. Often, we put off our well-being until these issues are resolved. "I would be happy if ____________ ." "I can relax when ________________." This is a "trick" that the mind plays on us, and it simply does not work. Let's get started on improving your quality of life right now, despite the challenges.

My name is Kristen. I'm a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in Oregon. I am fascinated by the brain and the human condition; it is a passion for me to help you learn more about your own mind and life. With this knowledge (along with support and patience), you can learn to make your mind "work" for you- rather than you "working" for it. I am happy to answer any questions you may have about this.

I received a master's degree in social work (MSW) in 2013 from the University of Alabama. I have worked as a counselor for about seven years. Many of my clients have worked with me on anxiety/stress, depression, healing from past trauma and improving self-esteem. I have had a great deal of experience in assisting with family conflict and parenting issues as well. I enjoy using mindfulness-based interventions with persons who are interested as these are heavily supported by the latest neuroscience research. Collaborative Problem Solving and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy are among other approaches that I like to take bits and pieces from. My style differs with each person/couple/family. I welcome any and all feedback as my counseling is about supporting you in the way that you need to be supported.

I would love to join you on your journey. Please reach out if you have any questions for me or if you'd like to work together. :)

I have utilized talk therapy my whole life and I decided on a career in mental health. Kristen is the only therapist that I actually accomplished therapy goals with. My most important life goal was accomplished while working with her. When my life took a turn I wasn’t expecting I immediately knew I wanted Kristen in my tool belt to help me get through the rough times. There is a therapist for everyone and I highly recommend Kristen. Thank you Kristen!

I have not been in therapy for long (about 3 weeks), and honestly, I was kind of apprehensive about the whole thing, at least at first. I find it difficult to open myself up and be vulnerable with others, and it is nearly impossible for me to do this with people I hardly know. However; Kristen has completely changed my mind about this entire process. Although everything is remote, Kristen is able to create a great environment for her clients. Kristen truly listens to the people who come to her for help. I feel safe when I open up to her. I'm not afraid to be brutally honest, and I have no fear of being judged for my thoughts. She is professional yet still manages to make you feel as if you are speaking to a close friend of many years, which is an amazing feat, as I have no friends. Again, I have only been in therapy for 3 weeks, but I highly recommend Kristen Sartor to anyone looking to better themselves.

Kristen has helped me process grief, provided support and motivation in my goals, and helps me maintain focus and accountability in multiple areas of my life. I had never been to more than one session with a mental health professional before I started video sessions with Kristen, but I meet with her every week and have for several months. My grief, anxiety, and over-thinking tendencies have dropped dramatically, and the weekly talks help prevent things from building up to unmanageable levels over time. I appreciate the goal reminders and accountability, and I feel like I'm accomplishing more without the usual mental stress. I highly recommend Kristen and BetterHelp.

Kristen is wonderful! If BetterHelp didn't randomly match counselors, I would recommend her to everyone I know.

I started therapy with Kristen at the start of quarantine (but after wanting to for much longer) and she has been a life saver. My anxiety and depression was taking over my life and she has helped give me the tools to get it back. Kristen is so easy to talk to, making you feel comfortable with sharing any issue or concern. I never feel judged or shamed by her, always empowered and encouraged!
