About Me

Hello! I am Kristen Sutton and I am a licensed mental health counselor in that state of Hawaii and a nationally certified counselor. I have worked with client's struggling with depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, addiction, and relationship issues. Many people I have worked with experienced some type of trauma or neglect.

My counseling style is warm and supportive. I believe healing begins with a positive relationship with your therapist, and then, eventually with yourself. My approach stems from humanistic, positive psychology, and solution-focused counseling. I often use motivational interviewing or DBT techniques to encourage growth and change, however, everyone is unique and requires individual treatment. I believe that everyone has the capacity for progress and change.

It's important to honor all sides of ourselves in order to progress. If you are ready to work towards the best possibly version of yourself, I am here to help.

I think Kristen is great. Because of my experience, I have recommended Better Help to a friend. I have always thought about going for counseling, but do not have time and because of my profession, it is difficult. This is perfect. I have great confidence in Kristen.

I have been working with Kristen I believe for almost 2 months now, this is the longest I’ve stuck with a counselor because it’s the first time I feel as though they’ve remembered what I tell them and are actually invested. She’s easy to contact, she sends lots of resources for work to do outside of our sessions, and most importantly is very empathetic and always tries to see from my perspective. She will offer alternative solutions or ways of thinking but only after she validates me which is huge for me. I feel extremely thankful to have found her.

Kristen is extremely responsive! Her responses are thoughtful and helpful. She has guided me to so many resources and is helping me understand the root of my issues. I am extremely happy she is my counsellor - I don't think I could have asked for better!
