About me

I am am an individual and family clinical therapist who has focused most of my 9 years of practice into children and families. I have experience with a wide demographic from age 3 through 80 working in a variety of settings such as hospitals, law centers, government, child and family services, schools, private practice and nursing homes. I have experience with many different presenting problems from anxiety to attachment and have had extensive training in trauma informed practice and play therapy. I have a passion for resilience therapy and ABC paradigm in which we teach decision making skills at a young age to truly understand natural, good and bad consequences. Art therapy and grief work are also strengths of my practice including grief cause by chronic illness/invisible illness/rare diseases for both caregivers and patients.

My counseling style is warm and interactive. I am very flexible in both my practice in theory and logistics. I have a come as you are policy where you are always welcome to be your authentic self no matter how that looks in the moment. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, psychodynamic and family work. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. You have control of our sessions and together we will meet your goals at your speed in your way.

As a therapist, I am the first to tell you how difficult it is to not only say you need help but to go out and get it. I'm proud of you for looking and reading this. That is a win. That is a step in the direction of setting yourself free from what binds you. You did that. I hope to get to know you more and work together. And if we are not the right fit or its not the right time just know you always have someone in your corner. You are never alone.

Take a deep breath your doing great.

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Kristine Hoestermann (Maier). We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

Kristine and I clicked from the get-go, and she was instrumental in helping me manage my anxiety during a transitional time in my life. I read another review that she is like talking to a best friend who has counseling knowledge sprinkled in and truly feel like that's what it is - I felt supported, looked forward to the sessions, and continually come back to her advice and techniques to manage difficult situations. Cannot recommend her enough!

Kristine was very nice. No complaints whatsoever. I would like to speak with a few other counselors before making a decision.

Kristine is so much fun to talk to! It's like if your best friend were somehow also an educated, credentialed therapist. I appreciate how well she listens to my concerns, and I feel we've been able to make genuine progress in just a few sessions. I am really grateful to have been matched with her through the site.

Kristine has been such a blessing in disguise. We are just in the beginning of working together, but she is active in understanding how I’m feeling and responding appropriately while allowing me to navigate my emotions on my own. She sends me motivational and positive quotes here and there... she is exactly what I’ve been looking for!
