About me

Hello! My name is Kyle Gravel and I am a current California Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) with over 16 years of experience supporting individuals impacted by a variety of challenges.

I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from The University of Connecticut (UCONN) in 2006 and my Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) in 2009. I completed a practicum through my graduate program at Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC).

I have 9 years of experience directly providing therapy. I started practicing as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) in 2010, under the direction of a Licensed Psychologist, and then received my LMFT license in 2018. My work is guided by the principles of evidenced-based practice, meaning I work with treatment approaches that are supported by scientific evidence and then are customized to the individual I am working with. Given my experience, my treatment plans tend to include strategies from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which is considered an evidenced-based treatment and to be both time and cost efficient. I also draw upon techniques from Solution-Focused Therapy.

My approach is both supportive and understanding. I like to create a safe space for you to discuss the issues that you are facing and also be a source of encouragement. I want to support you in coming up with solutions and recognizing your own capacity for change. I believe in empowering you to set goals for yourself and your treatment and supporting you in building the skills you need to meet your goals.

I also have extensive experience working in the Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) field and have been a BCBA since 2012. I have worked with children, teens, and adults with developmental disabilities and other mental health disorders including Autism, Down Syndrome, Anxiety, Intellectual Disability (ID), and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). I would say I have a passion for supporting parents of children with these challenges. I understand the additional demands placed on these parents and can offer help with related issues such as stress, anxiety, depression, and marital issues.
