About me

During my educational internship, I connected with a company dedicated to providing mental health services to surrounding communities lost in the Texas Desert. Lubbock has been described as “a cinder-block covered with asphalt in the middle of the largest sandbox of Texas;” the surrounding towns were worse off. The resources for these trying to survive were scarce and nearly non-existent, much like the absence of rain which rarely precipitated comfort and hope. As an intern fresh out of the classroom, I was first exposed to those populating these locked and secured facilities; meeting these individuals with chronic mental illnesses opened my eyes to The World of the Forgotten.

My goal in life is to never stop learning, I desire to learn as much as I can so I can help as many that cross my path. As I ventured to the East Coast for a change in scenery, ‘need’ seemed to grow. I began with community based and in home counseling where I worked from 4am – 10pm 6 days a week. I learned the need would never go away, but some just needed to commit for the benefit of this population. Since then, I have become licensed, opened a private practice, and obtained contracts within the city, all this to provide services to those whom the rest ignore. Of course there are multiple levels of disastrous proceedings creating less than conducive environments for combating mental health issues; political, insurance, financial, proximal, the list goes on and on. I have plans to infiltrate all of these areas in one capacity or another and I plan to open a non-profit aiding our Heroes, in every uniform, suffering from PTSD; the other Lost and Forgotten.

Currently, I am in a fast paced, hospital-like setting with people on the verge of being forgotten… again. I feel I have made full circle and returned to where it all began, on that cinder-block covered with asphalt in the middle of the largest sandbox in Texas, but this time there’s rain.
