I knew from an early age I would help others. Initially, I did not know how, but I always had a strong curiosity and desire to know "why?" Couple that with the ablility to connect with people on a deeper level, and it became clear that becoming a therapist was my path.
My approach to counseling is uniquely personal designed around the individual needs of the client. I do not employ a cookie-cutter approach to counseling, as there is no one-size fits all modality. I incorporate the client’s uniqueness in the counseling process; which is useful in allowing for individuality. I take the time to gain a thorough understanding of each client’s issue(s) and attempt to utilize appropriate treatment modalities coupled with compassion, directness, and goal-oriented communication. I utilize a strength-based approach which focuses on helping my clients identify and use their strengths to achieve their goals. I assist clients with identifying unhealthy thought and behavior patterns and implementing healthier, goal-oriented patterns. I have several years of experience helping clients successfully understand and overcome a variety of issues. I utilize tools from: CBT, REBT, DBT, MI, Brief Solution-Focused, and Person-Centered approaches. I have experience helping adults with:
• Self-Esteem/Image Issues
• Stress and Anger Management
• Relationship Issues
• Phase of Life Transitions
• Co-occurring Disorders
I also employ life-coaching techniques for those needing assistance setting realistic life goals and the additional motivational support needed to meet those goals.
- Stress, Anxiety

I have short time with her but what I experienced already I'm enjoying it. She's a very kind lady and willing to help you out. I'm still with her and staying with her.
I love that she really unpacks the the emotions that I'm feeling, sympathizes with me, and offers helpful, realistic solutions. It's comforting to know she understands me as a black woman.
Lakeetra is always professional and prompt but makes sure to keep responses personal and takes the time to help you understand what different thought processes are. She gives you great tools to use day to day making steps towards recognizing irrational thought patterns and how to challenge them. She is very thorough and makes sure to address each part of the messages I send.
Lakeetra is a very real person, which is a great quality in a therapist. Her approach is legitimate but doesn’t feel “clinical” the way a lot of therapists can make their clients feel. She makes me feel safe and secure, and is a joy to talk to!
She is a very nice person, very understanding, great listener, and very client-centered. I recommend her to anyone.
