About me

Hello, my name is LaMonica. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas. I worked in the behavioral health field for 6 years before beginning my career as a counselor. Before that I was a stay-at-home mom to two boys for twelve years. My journey as a counselor began because I wanted to help people searching for guidance in managing their complex feelings and emotions so that they could experience a peace of mind and healthier outcomes in their interpersonal lives.

I want clients to feel safe opening up to me. I am empathetic, and I understand the degree of courage and the strength that it takes to seek help and commit to counseling. I believe in the benefits of nurturing a therapeutic alliance with my clients by building rapport with them and helping them work on realistic goals with maintainable objectives that are meaningful in making their individual worlds a safer place to be in.

I have adopted an eclectic approach to counseling by using key components of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Client Centered, and Solution Focused, which enables a more integrative form of psychotherapy catering to the unique needs of each individual client. I like to help clients feel comfortable discussing their problem by normalizing it in order to develop treatment goals relevant to the person’s expectations and motivation. I also have a strong interest in the trauma-informed modalities of therapy and exploring how experiencing complex trauma can impact a person’s mental and physical health and lifelong wellbeing.

My ultimate desire as a counseling professional is to assist my clients in accessing the strength and power within themselves to change their thoughts and behaviors so that they can look toward a better future.
