About Me
Ase,
I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with over 10 years in the helping profession, 5 years in professional Health and Wellness coaching and 5 years in Personal Development Training.
As an alumni of the University of California, Irvine and HBCU Tennessee State University where combined, I received my Bachelors in Psychology & Social Behavior with an emphasis in Cultural Competency and a minor in Business Management. I went on to acquire my doctorate degree from The California School of Professional Psychology, completing my dissertation in Los Angeles focusing on Black Women’s issues. Since obtaining my doctorate degree I have authored a book entitled, “An Introduction to #SelfWork: A beginners guide to Personal Development,” my research has been published in two journal articles, I have developed two online courses centered in Cognitive Restructuring for people of color, and provide business internships to my students at San Diego State University, where I teach in the Africana Studies Department.
My therapeutic approach is behavior and process-driven with an Afrocentric lens. This means that I am interested in how every part of you is functioning, mind body spirit, and I cater to your needs by collaborating with you in the change process. You set the pace and I make the commitment to journey with you, celebrate every accomplished goal and encourage you when the journey becomes challenging.
It would be my honor and privilege to assist and witness you creating the type of life worthy of who you are.
Looking forward to meeting!
Balance & Wholeness,
Dr. Lanique Ruffin

I started going to counseling with Dr. Ruffin six months ago and I don’t know how to quite put into words how much this experience has helped me. Dr. Ruffin was quickly able to encourage a re-acquaintance with my values, gave me tools to help empower myself and navigate through some very challenging circumstances, I cannot speak highly enough of her. Dr. Ruffin is a rare example of someone who truly excels in their chosen profession. I’m grateful that our paths crossed— I’ve learned a lot!
