About Me

Hi! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and hold credentials in both California (my home state) and Louisiana (my current state). I've spent the last six years or so in social services, with a focus on clinical case management in child welfare. I obtained my Master's in Social Welfare from the University of California, Berkeley, and I'm currently working on my Doctorate in Social Work from Tulane University (New Orleans). I am interested in helping people remember who they are and write their own stories instead of accepting what others or society tell them they are. Most of my professional career has been spent working with involuntary clients, many at their lowest points, who nonetheless show incredible resilience in the face of terrifying odds.

I am a queer immigrant of color and have also worked with LGBTQ+ youth and adults, so I have both personal and professional experience in these communities. I believe in social justice, resistance and building a better world both in ourselves and in society. I am trauma-informed and use a variety of techniques from Narrative Practices, Motivational Interviewing and Solution-Focused Inquiry. I embrace the importance of rituals and our connection with the divine, whether that is the divine within ourselves or beyond.

Although I take my work very seriously, I usually don't take my own self seriously. I tend to be an easygoing conversationalist with a somewhat child-like sense of wonder. I probably make bad dad jokes every now and then, too, so please be warned. It is an honor and privilege to do the important work with you. I have a lot of faith in our ability to grow and change. And if you don't share that faith, that's OK — you can borrow mine until you find your own.

(PS: I also hate the Oxford comma.)
