Laura Myers-Meske

About Me

My name is Laura Myers-Meske and I am looking forward to working with quite a few of you here at BetterHelp. After 35 years of working in mental health agencies and school systems, I retired from full time work. But I found that I very much missed working with clients. So I joined BetterHelp to have this part-time individual practice on line. Hence, here we both are at this time. Let me tell you a bit about myself as a therapist.
I am open, warm and welcoming to my clients, partly because I know that I am a lucky person to have worked as a therapist for my life's work. And I am ever mindful of the strengths that clients have within them selves to resolve problems, when provided with good support. Many of my clients have enjoyed my sense of humor. Although I am always open to hearing about painful issues, I also love to be happy for the joyous moments that clients may share. (Speaking of "clients", I have been in the field long enough that I have technically worked with patients, clients, consumers, and/or customers. The word does not matter to me. You may call me Laura and I will call you by the name that you choose to be called.)
My approach is based in the here and now. What can we do to make today and tomorrow better in your life. Therapy is not a lifetime commitment. I like to help folks address their issues in treatment and then move on to other things. If something arises later on, you can always return. But your lifetime commitment must be to learn to be good to yourself and those whom you love. In terms of treatment that may be somewhat longer, I have had years of experience working with survivors of childhood trauma and am still interested in dealing with that issue if needed. I have primarily dealt with individual clients, although others may be included at times to enhance treatment. It is expected that clients be willing to do homework as part of the process.
If it sounds like you might enjoy working with me, please contact me! I look forward to meeting you!
